Great time today kruzin' and hanging out with everyone! I couldn't stay for the kampout because of a graduation party. (When will they end! ) Ken & Regis had the place spotless and ready for everyone to kamp.
Started out from my place with some of the Clevelander's (Me WSD, Matt from Lakewood and his buddy Andrew and Don & Sue from N. Canton. Donuts at the hippie shop, then off to gas up.
Why is it only the splits that need gas???
Got to Bill's a little before 10:30 Plenty of buses there and more arriving by the minute.
Got the cruise started with about 14 buses. I followed Craig and Brenda in Craigs '65.
We cruised through Oberlin past all those cool old college buildings.
We made it to Mill Hollow south of Vermillion for a break. Turk the wonderdog was along with Mark & Gail for the whole trip looking for Italian sausages.
Pat, Mike & Julie didn't seem to mind the heat.
Mike had his Porsche out as a "scout" vehicle.
We ended up with 6 splits and a bunch of bays and a Rialta, and only one Vanagon. If only Aaron had been able to make it to increase the Vangon total.
Gregg's 21 Window.
Craig and Brenda's '65
We were quite a site at the rest area.
Mill Hollow was HOT!
West Side Danny knows how to keep his rig cool!
Dennis knows how to dress the part!
We made it up to the Quarry Hill Orchard.
Looked frozen to me, but Mark said it was just "hard" cider!
Bob...
and Deb, met us at the orchard.
Fresh peaches were a big hit.
Amish tomatoes were in.
West Side Danny & Pat (Framingsilly)
Mittawanga Dan & Vermillion Bob
We then headed up the road to the winery.
Nice line up of buses.
Nice and cool inside.
Then we headed off to the Erie Kai Tavern right on Lake Erie.
The place was right out of Gilligan's Island. I kept looking for Ginger.
Then it was off to Ken's for the kampout location.
Ken & Regis had the place spotless and Ken's Vegas bus up in the air.
The bus is progressing beautifully!
So WSD & I had to leave to get back to the big city.
What would a road trip be without some drama?
Danny broke a belt getting onto I-90. He shut it down and had it changed faster than Donnie Allison.
I lost a hubcap coming off the interstate, but we both made it home fine.

Re: Kruzin & Kampin@Ken's 2012
Thanks Sean! When/if you retire, I think you'll have a great career in photography! I really enjoyed the vicarious cruise! Couldn't make it today. . .but this was "almost" as good as being there!
Re: Kruzin & Kampin@Ken's 2012
First, thanks to Mike and Bruce from covvc for planting this idea. After attending their Metroparks Cruise,we thought, what a great idea this was and how could we expand on it. We have a lot of great country roads and interesting places here in Ohio and how great it is to enjoy them in your bus. I think this is a definite "do it again" . thanks Ken for hosting a final destination campout and social gathering. Sean's pics are far better than mine, but here is the obligatory rear view mirror shot. I know that there are a lot more pics and maybe a video out there. Get them up.

This makes me sad I'll have to make an effort to get the Vanagon attendance up for the next time!Six Volt wrote:We ended up with 6 splits and a bunch of bays and a Rialta, and only one Vanagon.
Viva la Vanagon!
