At the last 3rd Thursday (December 20, 2018) we were reminiscing at the end of the night in light of Marla's upcoming relocation.
One of the topics that came up was the old Mansfieled Reformatory shows more than a decade ago. Those were memorable. LEAKOIL (as a club) got invited by chance. Bill called the organizer and said we'd come if we could camp. The organizer said sure! That's all LEAKOIL needed to hear. Free camping at a prison.
These photos are from 2007. I'm not sure if this was the first year, but I remember the tree lined pond we camped by and the crazy lunatics from Michigan who swam in it at 3am.

Here are a few more pictures. Sorry Bruce, my camera was working back then.
Re: Throwback Shawshank 2007
I believe 2005 was the first year we camped there. About 6 of us and we camped in the median directly in front of prison. The pictures below came from a file I have labeled as 2006.
If I remember correctly, this was the year that Randy made me drink all that beer

That was a great setting for a camp out. If it's still open, we should do that again.

Re: Throwback Shawshank 2007
They still offer tours year-round and at Halloween they have some kind of "haunted prison" setup, but I don't think there's been any camping there since around '09.
The guy who organized those VW shows was on the board of the historical group trying to save the prison. Those VW shows were part their fundraising efforts. I'm told it all went south when the guy in charge changed the date one year over a conflict with someone's wedding. The new date conflicted with a bunch of stuff and no one showed. I think that was one of the problems. They kept changing the dates. It kind of died after that. I may be wrong, but I credit Marla with coming up with the Mohican campouts as a replacement.
There's an old thread about Shawshank from '09, but no pics. http://www.leakoil.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=140
I did find some pics from '09. This was our last year there. A lot of these buses and a few owners have moved on! I do love the Kirk and Jen tag team awning assembly pics!

The best I can offer is this shot from Aug 2009. I was there with my Ghia and took some other car shots but this is probably the best. At the time I had not joined LO yet.

This does look like a great venue. Great pics too! Thanks for posting them.
