I like your idea of the dual circuit master cylinder. That's a nice safety feature. I'm going to copy that idea from you for my busses.

Well Ken, you're like me. I guess we shouldn't take too many chanes. I've been talking to Dale about it at Dale's VW. Dale's going to help me with the brakes, which is great 'cause he has two lifts. I still have an original one cylinder in my beetle, but I make sure the e-brake is in top notch shape and the bug is pretty light and is really pretty easy to stop using the e-brake. I don't know how that approach will fare with a fully loaded split bus, so I think I'm better off with a dual. Besides the look of that split bus e-brake scares the heck out of me. It's like John Wayne pulling up on a team of horses!

CIP1 sells a single to dual conversion kit, but that resevoir is sure exspensive. Here's just the spacer so you don't have to cut the original pushrod. http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp ... C20%2D4100

Dale may have a rabbit resevoir it says you can use. It probably won't line up with the hole in the floor though, so I may have to bite the bullet. WW sells a metal (German) line replacement kit for the 55-63 brakes at $52.00, http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/Detai ... 211698001B , but I'm not sure what other lines or connections I'll need down below with the extra circuit.
Oh yea, I still have to buy either the Brazillian http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp ... 021%2DAAGR or German http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp ... 021%2DAAGR dual master cylinder.
On top of all that, if I could afford to go all out I'd jump on this, but WOW $$$$$!

I was just kidding with the 6.70 comment...Radials are cool i suppose... I dont mind the 6 volt on my truck...I am happy I dont have a 36hp motor in it...I did that with my 57 panel for a bit, as long as your not in a hurry its sorta fun..

Like you, I love the 6.70's. I guess I just wanted a little false security that radials seem to bring. I really kept it 6 volt 'cause I was trying to keep it fairly original. I've never driven a 36HP small nut tranny, so I don't really know what I'm in for. I'm a slow driver anyway. I'll probably be running with Ken and Reg.
One thing for sure, I know I won't be keeping up with Berea Bob!

Same here. We bring up the "caboose" of the bus train. Darn Bob, Dennis & Bill are the 75mph "Trailblazers" when we run in a convoy. I'm into the trip for the scenery. BTW, how did you mange to make yourself small so you could crawl under one of "your" buses and actually get a picture of an undercarriage?

Sean, this is great information. It's about time someone came up with a dual master cylinder kit for the pre 66 split and the '67 busses. It's hard to put a price tag on something like this. I going to seriously look at this for my '66 Westy then the SC And Vegas.
Next thing you know someone will have a kit for putting air bags in a split. I sure Chuck Spence has already figured this out
