TRL 69' SCAB
Re: TRL 69' SCAB
So after 3 days I FINALLY got the motor out. Every single thing I had to touch gave me trouble. I had to cut off the homemade hitch bar, cut off the moustache bar rubber mounts because the oil pump cover mounts were stripping on me. Some of the tin is rotting out and there has been some mice calling it home. I blocked up the lame IRS tranny since it cant hold itself up. CV boots look ok. No tears, so hopefully they will get me by till winter.

Re: TRL 69' SCAB
So today I started cracking on brakes. Im on a timeline here so no time to really clean and paint things up. Going to get the drums turned a little. Im also happy I got new wheel bearings because the bearing grease in the drums lost its greasy-ness and came out in hard chunks and bearings looks a little flattened from sitting so long. Makes me wonder what the rear bearings look like.... Next is hard line and master cylinder replacement. This truck will stop so well that things will fall off. Like parts of the rockers

Also, bay window tie rods are supposed to be straight and not slightly bent right?

Hey you're not too far away. If you need an extra hand with anything ill try to help out.
Re: TRL 69' SCAB
Did some work on rear brakes. One of the rear axle stubs was knicked up at the end and just stripped out the big rear drum nut, but since i was using a giant 1" impact i didnt notice the damage until later. So I had to file down the knackered spot. I now have to get a new castle nut. I also started to run the new hardlines from the wheel cylinders to the rubber lines.

All my buses that are older and newer than the epic TRL single cab have the 46mm castle nut so I would guess that this beast will as well.
