Not certain, but I think you're right. From looking at the WW site, I think #1 shows the '55-'63 front wheel cylinders. Trouble is, I have three of one side and only one of the other.

I'm thinking #2 may be 'bay' bus rears. (Say that fast 10 times!) The picture on the WW site for bay rears looks like them. Perhaps they used the same WC on type I bugs? I'm thinking #4 may be the rear WC for the '55-'63 bus. Check the picture out on the WW site.

If I get time, I'll turn the shoes over and show the metal side. How do you attach them? With rivets? Drill out the old ones?

I hear you Howie, but it's been 18 months! Time flies even when you're not having fun. If I had to do it over again I would have bought Keith's '58 and been done with it long ago!

If the parts I ordered aren't in, I'm there. I'm tired of looking at little bags and boxes of small nuts and screws and things I took apart more than a year ago that I am now trying to put back together. Even when you label the parts bag, it's not easy to remeber how it all goes back together!

I'm really close and, in the end, it will be a fun bus that I hope all LEAKOILERS can try out, drive and enjoy.

From some samba members, the consensus seems to be the shoes are '55-63 3/4 ton bus.

#1 are '55-'63 bus front WC. #2 are probably '71-'79 bay WC, but not certain. #3 are '64-'67 bus front WC. #4 and #5 are '55-'67 rear WC. One is just missing the dust caps. The other stuff is brake rebuild related, but not really sure what it fits.

The linings you have were riveted on the old shoes by the dealer when they did brake replacement.(pop rivets will not work)
Call me,I have the rear wheel cyls and shoes in stock.

Thanks Bill, I'll get them from you. I need the rear wheel cylynders and the rear shoes. Thanks for saving me from the pop rivet error. That's exactly how I planned to mount the shoes!

I can come out your way tomorrow if you're at the shop.

The brakes are getting ready to go in. I'm going with the CIP1 dual conversion kit. The resevoir is overpriced, but I'm tired of looking for Rabbit or Volvo 140 or 240 resevoirs and all the little pieces parts. I'm beat down. The kit is $169 and that doesn't include the MC! (Ouch!) The Varga, (brazillian dual MC is around $50), so I ordered it. I have a lot of questions about using this set up without vacuum or a servo, but they claim it "works". I suppose I should have asked you guys first, but I want to finish this so I ordered it earlier today so I can get it in this weekend. I hear you Ted. I've never bought anything from Ronnie before, but I should have considered that option. I did look at his website, but it doesn't look like he displays everything he has or can get. I can't remember if I saw a '67 MC on the site, but I must admit I didn't really consider the '67 option. I know they are expensive, but probably no more exspensive than this pricey resevoir I'm getting.

I've never heard anything neagative about Ronnie and I know he knows split buses. I probably should have just called him.

Anyway, I already ordered the bay conversion, so I'm going with it for now. The other reason I picked it was I may want to buy the CSP disc brake conversion kit for a split. If I end up running that, they say you need the bay MC anyway.

In any event, I'll take some pics of this. If it doesn't work, I'll box it up and send it back and then call Ronnie. Appreciate the info Ted.
