I'll try to be around. My weekends home depend on my exam schedules during the fall and winter. Here's hoping no tests etc around Kellys Time.

Howie, as for my ride, no idea. Sleeping in my bug would be a contortionists nightmare, and sleeping in my bus would be a confusing exercise since it's not a camper. Perhaps a tent would be in order...

I have a new 2-person tent if you need to borrow one. Check the department stores in mid-late September when they go on sale- I got mine last fall for $23.00.

There is a cart rental at the dock but it's quite pricey-$20.00/hour. If you walk downtown (about 1 mile) you can rent one by the day for much less. I'm not sure how much. Bill and/or Pam may remember from last year.

You should be able to check out the Kelleys Island website and click on one of the many businesses there that rent cart and you should be able to find out anything you could want to know...

Didn't Robert (Bugin) rent one for the entire weekend from someone dirt cheap? Btw where is Bugin?

The Bugin family is off the bus circuit for this season. Never had the bus out once this year. They have Money Woes like we all have. But they still love us and will be back in 2010!

A couple years ago, (I think it was Bill W., but I could be wrong), found a guy who rented carts pretty cheap, (it's all relative), for the whole weekend. Normally, when you get off the ferry, you turned left to go "downtown" to get to Division Street and eventually the 4-H site. To reach this cart rental you turned RIGHT off the ferry and went away from the normal flow. The guy and his wife were on the left hand side as you went up about 1/4 mile from the dock. I can't remember the name, but if Bill or someone knows I'll try to contact them about a LEAKOIL rate. Anyone remember this?

I remember Robert (bugin) rented a two seat cart for about $70 for the week end.

Well, I called the Caddy Shack on the island and they quoted me $400 for a 6 seater. They said that they only rent 6 seaters over night. I think I can buy one for that price.

I could not find any other cart rentals on the Islands' web. I remember seeing a couple different places last year. There must be a more reasonable rate availiable.

I've tried to do a little research on the mysterious cheap cart rental and I'm coming up empty, but I have a few leads if folks want to check them out. As I said in an earlier post, a couple years ago I turned rright, or east, on E. Lakeshore Drive, (that's away from the downtown), when first getting off the ferry. I think Bill may have told me about it. I remember getting a "relatively" cheap cart for a couple days from a combination cottage/motel place that had a few carts available. Not sure which one it was, but here are some optionsthat seem close to where I was...

Weekend at Bernies
Annalee's Lakeshore Cottage
Lighthouse Cottage
Sunrise Point

Here's a pretty good business map of the island if anyone has a lot of time on their hands.
