"Maybe tomorrow I'll work on the tunes. CKLW 760? and WIXY 1260. Either way, all the hits!"

I thought CKLW was AM 800?
Can't wait to see you driving that Bus! The pictures look great.

Yes Mark, I think you're right about 800 AM. I'm sure Keith can tell us a little about CKLW. Hey, we're getting old. I'm not sure people under 40 even remember the original CKLW or WIXY. That was pre-FM and satellite. Some AM was cool back then.

Anyway, I hope to have this bus running soon. I hope all you guys take it for a spin at one of the campouts. You've all got me through this!

And who can forget (or remember?) ....

"Lanigan in the morning....
.... On WGAR!!!"

KDKA out of Pittsburgh comes to mind as well... only one of 4 stations east of the Mississippi to have "K" as the first letter of the call sign. 50,000 watts of clear-channel power!!!!

Not only was AM cool, it was all we had. I had the old Saphire I cranked up in the SC as well

1967-70, In Greenford, listening to "Big Jack Jackson" on CKLW every night. Building model cars in my parents' unheated attic. The best years of AM radio, up until 1970! It is a moment frozen in time. Memorable. The Best Rock, EVER broadcasted. Those days are long gone.

CKLW The Big 8.

You can thank Rosalie Trombley for the sound of CKLW and the CRTC with CanCon for killing it.

Check out Radio Revolution: The Rise & Fall of The Big 8 for all you need to know about this groundbreaking institution.

Great links Ted. I never knew it was in Windsor.

Yes, but I opted for radials. Despite my 'handle', I'm already having second thoughts about keeping it 6 volt! Original is great, but I have to drive this thing from time to time. After Kyle finishes up with the electircal, the last thing mechanical will be the brakes and I'm probably going with the dual circuit.

Here are the (205/75R15) radials...

Even though it's a lot nicer than yesterday, it's deceptively cold. Nothing like working in sunny conditions with a cold wind blowing off the lake!

Anyway, I finished with the rear engine seal from WW. Nice quality, but like with all new seals, I can't close the engine lid and lock it. BTW, that damn thing, (engine lid), has hit me in the head aobut three times already 'cause I need to figure out that lock arm and spring contraption. I also reinstalled the camping land-line plug. I won't be using this unit however as I'm sure I'll electrocute us all if I ever plug anything into it! I'll probably foresake originality and go with the Leviton unit Ted posted somewhere else on the site. The bumper went on easy enough. New 17mm nuts, bolts and washers helped. I accidently 'filled' one of the small side holes when doing the body work, so I may open it up and attached that side. Don't really need to, as it's on nice and tight though. One last thing, you'll be able to see one of my other rookie body repair mistakes with the engine lid. When I got the bus the lid was off laying in a corner. I noticed there was a dent right where the hinge was on the body. I pulled the dent out as good as I could. When finished, I forgot to line up the lid with pulled position of the hinge. When you look closely you'll see about a 1/4" offset between the lid and the body. Less noticalbe when closed. Just warning you guys now, this ain't no 'Claifornia Quality'.

Here we go.

Rear with bumper attached. Got the bumper over the single tip...

Cut my own gasket. Looks ok, but using this is a sure way to get zapped...

Image

New seals won't let me close it...

Image

Seem like really nice seals though from Wolfsburg West...

Another shot...

Image

Not really noticable when fully closed, but you can see the offset on the lid due to my rookie bodywork in this shot...
