Meister Road Expansion

Post by Ken »

My son Marc recently got a job transfer back to Ohio from Florida. Of course, Carolyn and I are thrilled to have back home after almost 20 years.
One of the things he really missed about home was having a place to work on his cars, boats, motorcycles, etc. He has been interested in anything with an engine since he was old enough to talk (I wonder where he got that from?). Anyway, he decided we needed more space so he put the old man to work helping him build a 12' X 80' storage addition to the Meister Rd. garage. Now if only I can get him into busses. ;)

Nice to see him back home! Good to have family near.

Today we finished the metal sheeting on the roof and side wall. Now we are under a dry roof and next it's mostly the end walls and doors plus a lot of detail work.

Wow! Awesme upgrades at Meister. I remember the split bus shell that sat outside on that spot for many years! I wish I could pull up my pics from the pig roast in 2008, but I think they were on the old site. Oh well, time marches on.

Don't be silly, of course I got a permit. Since the property was "grandfathered" in as commercially zoned, I even had to go before the Design Review Board with the building plans, pictures of the adjacent properties and the owners approvals. It was a big deal for such a small job (about 1000 sq. ft.). at least now I can keep all my sons stuff and all my "junk" under roof.

Yesterday we finished trimming out the front and back doors and the flashing.
We stored some stuff inside for the winter and closed the door openings with particle board. We'll finish the permanent doors in the spring when the weather warms.
