Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

I made it home safely from last night's third Thursday. The bus ran well.

Not so much this morning. I can't keep it running without holding down the gas pedal.

Re: 78 Bay - newbie member, newbie owner, beginner

What is a FI replacement? Is this bad? I'm gonna check out that pressure switch...I'll keep you posted. Someone replaced your factory fuel injection with carbs. Is it bad? Depends on who you ask. I don't know much about carbs but it looks like you have dual carbs which are way better than a single ...

That multimeter will work.

You might also want to get a 12v test light

Re: 78 Bay - newbie member, newbie owner, beginner

To summon Chuck you need to:

Go into your bathroom at midnight with all the lights off
Light two candles
Close your eyes while facing the mirror and whisper three times "Progressives are better than fuel injection"

When you open your eyes he will be there!

Re: 78 Bay - newbie member, newbie owner, beginner

Welcome! All of the bulbs can be found at any parts store. You may want to replace the housing for the tail lights. The lenses held up good to uv light but the housings generally do not. Best quality is hella. They're probably tough to find. Second best are the Brazilian ones from busdepot. They're ...

Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

Thanks guys. I never could have done it without all of your help. About the blue wire: its connected and the alt light functions correctly. I fixed a bad splice and now I'm getting about 12.8 volts. Still seems low. The bus really swayed on the highway during my drives on Friday. I took it to work w...

Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

What's the issue with the alt.? No voltage to the battery. 26 volts measured at the post on the alternator. I need to repair or replace the cable going from the alternator to the starter obviously, but not really sure where to go after that. Took the bus to my parents house for them to see it. 2017...

Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

Congrats On your first drive! Your grinding and shifting problems are probably due to you shift linkage adjustment. Play around with shifter location and verify your clutch cable is working properly. Thanks Rick. I think you were right. I made some adjustments and now there is much less grinding. S...
