Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

The permatex "fix" didn't work. When I reinstalled the distributor drive gear, I installed it the same way it came out - never loosened the clamp. Turns out whoever had it out last had it installed 180° off. So I pulled the pinion and reinstalled it correctly orientated. I also installed a...

Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

The diaphragm in the air cleaner wasn't holding a vacuum (EEC diaphragm I think its called?) I pulled it apart and found a tear in the rubber. I put some permatex over it to seal the rubber. If it doesn't hold I guess I'll plug that vacuum line? It is my understanding that it the only downside to th...

The spades are pretty bent up

Just about done. Have some wiring concerns though engine.jpg Mainly this plug. It is on the harness that connects the double relay to the starter, reverse light switches, etc. harness plug.jpg Dakota digital sender and original oil pressure switch on a tee for remote mounting on the firewall. oil pr...

Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

Thanks Marla. Almost there Rick. Got my injectors and CSV installed along with most of the vacuum lines, all of the fuel lines, and my FI harness. There is a chance I could have the engine complete tonight, as long as I figure out a replacement for a couple of vacuum lines I'm missing. I also learne...

Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

Ugh... white rims on a bay... really? They were already painted white. Just really rusty and crappy looking. Eventually I'll have them painted or powdercoated the correct L91 paint but I had the white paint just laying around. John, thanks for the link. I'll have to look at their cold start valves ...

Re: Austin's 1977 Tintop Camper

Tins are all on. Used black rtv to seal some gaps because it fit poorly. Exhaust is ready to go, just waiting on gaskets (thanks again Bruce). Sent my fuel injectors and cold start valve to InjectorExperts in Risingsun, Ohio. I couldn't recommend them, their website said 3 day turn around and I've b...
