Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

Yes, thanks Todd and thanks to everyone who weighed in. It doesn't matter who's right or wrong. Any discussion helps the uneducated like me. BTW, isn't it crazy that it has two tranny drain plugs??? Well, I wanted to go to Dixie Bus, but I was hesitant to try to drive this thing to Mt ...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

You guys are all about the forensics, just tell me if I'm going to make it doc! If it makes any difference, the top and bottom rgb "bolts" were exactly the same as the two tranny drain plugs. BTW, why does a split case tranny have two drain plugs anyway? :? These bolts were not norma...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

Well I'm surprised. :? They are both, (top and bottom), 19mm bolts. What's up with that? They are the same as the two 19mm drain plugs. None of them leak. Here's a view of one of them... http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc134/gallareed/59bus8-5-09012Small.jpg I even double checked the wrench... ht...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

That is a 17mm allen for the drain and fill plugs. What size was the hammer you used to get a 19mm to work?    I have no idea, but some po must have been in a 'swappin' move. They were threaded bolts top and bottom on both sides. Now that I'm thinking about it, they could have ...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

Having a lift is something we could all enjoy. 8-) I really have to thank Dale at Dale's VW for all the time, assistance, and frankly work, he did to get this thing mobile. Once I got it down to his place there were a lot more things that needed to be done than just slapping brakes on it. Dale reall...

Re: 1958 Standard Microbus

I love all the POWER and LUXURY of my Bay-window.... Josh is too young to remember all this, but 'split' owners watched and appreciated the Flintstones as kids. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc134/gallareed/flintstones2.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc134/gallareed/flintstones.jpg htt...

I enjoyed the ride home at 52mph in the right lane. Keith and 'CoCo' are indeed great folks. I think everyone left ...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

Ronnie had some fronts for my 59 that were $15 each. Came in a white box with no markings. Pulled them apart to inspect before install and they looked great inside. Been on for about 5 years with no issues. The next set I will have stainless inserts installed by Whitepost. The ones at WW are very e...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

What kind of master cylinder did you end up using? I went with the "Varga" unit, Brasilian, (I think). I also bought the "CSP" (German) conversion kit which included the spacer and resevoir you see in one of the photos above. With that, the resevoir cap matches up to the hole in...
