Re: '66 Deluxe

Well, here’s what we’ve been up to. Bodywork is a slow process, sometimes with many hours invested and not much to look at, that’s where the bus is right now. I’ve been spending nearly every day in the shop and Chuck has been there several nights as well, we've made considerable progress but not tha...

Re: 76 vw sterling nova kit car

We cant figure out how to get the dual Weber carbs tuned right. What would cause exhaust pipe from cylinder #1 and#2 to over heat, also intake from same side gets ice cold covered with condensation? Compression is good in all cylinders...runs raggedy at moderate acceleration...HELP I need somebody....

Re: 1957 Oval

Why do you need to upgrade the brakes? Install a dual master and call it good. Have you driven an early Beetle? It's not a question of hydraulics, they need 3x the friction surface that they have. It's like driving with wet shoes when they're dry. I'm with 6V, put bigger front brakes on it if the k...

Re: '66 Deluxe

Lots of work going into the bus lately, but it's all bodywork and doesn't show well in pictures. The RF door was pretty good with a shallow dent in it filled with mud. The bottoms and insides of both front doors is nearly perfect- very little surface rust at all. The LF door was wrecked- it looked f...

Woodward Dream Cruise

Cruised up to Detroit again this year along with John Watjen in his '84 Westy. Looked over the Michigan VWs gathered at Square Lake and Woodward, starting to recognize several of them and their members..... http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/cc326/bruceamacker/vw/P8170002_zpse8fde770.jpg http://i524...

Re: Volksfest 2013

Great weather, good time, struck out on bus parts. What's the deal with that? It seems like there's nearly nothing at swaps for split buses anymore, :( at least my list isn't as long as it used to be. Is anyone sitting on a good '66-7 decklid they want to sell? I'm still on the fence whether I shoul...

Don't get your hopes up- it's the same presentation I did at your house last winter!

Re: '66 Deluxe

I worked on the bus this week, but less than usual because it was my birthday. ;) I re-pinned the decklid hinges. That should have taken an hour but took much more..... Getting the old screws out and the pins out was quite a task. Worked wrinkles and dents out of the decklid I bought at Ypsi, Instal...

Re: '66 Deluxe

I had to work last week but this week I got some shit done. First of all, I'm cool now. 8-) I went to Todd Swangstu's (Toledo club) house Wednesday and filled my car with old bus parts. I did far better at his house than all swap meets I've attended this year put together. Big score! I cleaned and p...

Oh, did I forget to mention that you also adjusted the points in that engine so wide that they would not close?
