Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
You may have noticed that the thread title changed from 1973 to 1974 Double Cab Project  . Well I am embarrassed to admit this but some where along the way I got it into my head that this was a '73 :? . This morning I wanted to look at the M-Code plate and saw it was in fact a '74. The other ...

Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
Thank you both for looking into this. Researching on the Samba last night I found a couple of references to the brown/ blue wire as being a ground for the key buzzer that is activated with the insertion of the key into the ignition. They also indicated that there some funny colored wires on Brazilia...

Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
Sorry, I guess I should have clarified it is actually a wire coming from the ignition switch. The switch has 5 wires. The 1st 4 you helped me figure out, red/black to terminal 50, red to terminal 30, black and yellow to fuse #10 and black wire to fuse #1. I can't figure out where the brown/ blue str...

Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
Thank you again for you help. So reviewing the diagram for the ignition wiring it seems that the black and yellow wire goes from the switch to fuse #10 and the black wire goes to fuse #1. I cannot see where the brown and blue striped wire goes. I would think it is a ground. Is it a ground? if so whe...

Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
Thanks for your help. So the wire from terminal 50 on the starter comes straight up to the ignition switch bypassing the fuse block. This appears to be the black and red striped wire that goes into the 8 terminal connector. Then a solid red wire goes from the ignition switch to terminal 30 of the he...

Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
During the paint drying my wife asked me what I was doing. I said, "Waiting for the paint to dry," she said, "Great then you can go pick up the gigantic area rug I bought at a garage sale and bring it home." So I got the Single Cab out and went to do that too. Picking it up turne...

Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
Took a break from the wiring to sort out all the holes in the dash. Being that I cannot weld I needed to figure out a way to make the holes look better. I stripped and primered the dash. Smoothed out the holes with a dremel. Mounted the Headlight Switch and the Emergency Flasher Switch in their stoc...

Re: 1974 Double Cab Project
Started the wiring for the bus this weekend. The wiring is going to be a real chore for me. Spent the majority of this Saturday repairing wires and replacing splices with correct gauge wiring and colors. Seems that blue and black 14 gauge wire was in abundance for the PO. In fact when a larger gauge...
