I put the engine back in and it would not idle and ran hot, par for the course, fix 1 thing break another. I pulled it and took it to bruce, where he found my left intake manifold boot was cracked. I got a new pair in akron today and all is well again !! thanks again bruce for all your help

got it back together, no extra parts, and it spins freely with no clunks !!!! will put it in this weekend .

I decided to pull the tranny and do it myself, you cant learn unless you try. try and find a 7mm stud, weddle ind has them 2.65 stud, 13$ shipping !! when I get the gasket set I will try to put the puzzle back together. thank you all for your input

a smart one at that. I had to have a hinge welded back into place from the stress the original prop applies

that snapring came out with the shaft, I believe that started the problem. the stud looks to be on the other shaft still.i am going to remove the t/o bearind and seal and try to get it back together without a teardown.

late last year the gears were grinding going into first and reverse I wanted to check the throw out bearing, I had the clips come out before. also just clean, paint and a few small things it seemed easier with it out

there is a 7mm threaded stud between this shaft and the one in the tranny that is missing, It isn't on either shafts, its probably on the bottom of the tranny

I bought a used harbor freight motorcycle jack from a friend and used it to pull my engine today. worked great engine balanced well. only problem is the rear transmission shaft came out with it, stuck fairly tight in the clutch. guess I will be taking the tranny out next.

no but I tapped on the starter and solenoid an it started. I have started it twice after returning, starts no problem. maybe a bad or sticking solenoid
