Re: Hans and Olaf

Good job Nick. Having a horn that works becomes a real necessity, when you need it most! I've found cleaning the contacts under the button on the steering wheel is also a good idea. I think WW sells, (for lack of the exact term), "a contact kit" for the contacts under the button. I swapped...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

The old 6V Ford solenoid trick, explained in rich detail with a Peter Aschwanden graphic in the John Miur "Idiot Book", will help, too. Ditch the Ford solenoid, it takes almost as much current to trigger as the stock unit. Use a Ghia 6V horn relay or find a 40A 6V foglight relay. The batt...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

She did get a sweet kitchen out of the deal.    Since I'm not finsihed I'll keep this thing going just a bit longer while we iron out the kinks. One thing I've noticed is occasionally when I go to start the bus I get the sound of a contact then nothing. Not all the time just on...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

Many thanks to Bill Webner who, once again, came through big time! Thanks again Bill! I told Dawn we would take a ride out to Bill's in the early afternoon to pick up the seats. Bill had everything ready. Perfect job as always. Bill even got me the seat bottoms I was missing! They came out great. Da...

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

Hey, I love nitpicking. It's often how I learn what's right and wrong. You can't read everythig on the samba! Good or bad, please keep the comments coming! I like the stock look and feel of these buses and although this is not a stock restoration, I'm not doing anything that is too far off bas...

Re: Another great campground

When Bill mentioned it to me last week I had no idea it was that cool and primative. Looks great. I'd like to check out Howie's farm sometime, but also this site, perhaps at a future 'Jim's VW' "German Jubeliee". Can't be that far away from both sites.

Re: CKWA/KWHA Part II

Thanks for the info on the tranny Todd. That clears it up. I'll check and make sure we put the right type of fluid in the case. Also, thanks Ted for the correction on the radio plate. I must have looked at it for an hour trying to figure it out and I still got it wrong! I'll fix it tonight after wor...

Re: Dixie Bus Gathering -2009

Great pictures. Sorry I missed it. Always a great time. I see Don (vwlover) was smart and parked by the 'Reg & Ken' field kitchen.

Did Vdubtech out of NY make it? How was the caravan to the show this year? Anybody talk w/ the Izzy guy with the safari's from Calif. at the show?
