Re: Tom Kern

I met Tom around 2007/08 at KI while he was camped nearby me. I was admiring his home made bus awning that he built from scratch parts from stuff that he had Junk-Picked. It looked darn good to me! We spent the better part of an afternoon tipping a few Cold Ones, and discussing, "Improvising Wi...

Re: P.I.B Campout 2014

The sideways windblock picnic tables were always a staple on both PIB and KI to keep the fire from getting blown out. I forget which year we used the industrial Shrink Wrap at PIB around the trees to protect the fire, and keep the wind off us. The wind was coming in at 25-30 Knots that night, and th...

Re: P.I.B. 2014

Glad to see some of the "Old Timers" keeping the Tradition alive! Here's a flashback of some years prior, mostly 2007 & 2008:

Re: P.I.B Campout 2014

At this time of year, you are at the mercy of the PIB Boat Captain. Several years ago the winds and waves were up (It was pretty darn cold, too) and we caught the last ferry off the island on Sunday morning before the ferry quit running that day.

We need Howie to analyze these "orbs" and see what they're doing to Chuck!

They are not Orbs- It is Chuck's Halo. The only time he is like an Angel is when he's asleep. ;)

Re: updates

I recall the cold, rainy, 2005 campout quite vividly! Once I quit pouting about the weather, I walked up to the mess hall (with an umbrella) and we had a dandy fire in the Mess Hall fireplace. Plenty of hot dogs on the roller machine. It was a GREAT time, albeit just not outdoors that evening.

Re: Jim's (Columbiana) Show & Swap 2012

Nice bus from Pittspuke but they are Squeeler fans. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc134/gallareed/VW/514bbfcc.jpg I met the dude in the blue Vanagon a few years ago at Columbiana. I believe his name was Jim. He and his buddy followed me out to my farm nearby, and we had a cookout. They are fun ...

GREAT cross section of vehicles there! And yes, Sean, those were insulators you saw. "Garden variety" Hemingray 42's, and a few "pony's".

Re: COVVC LEAKOIL Spring Cruise

[quote="65Westy"]got brave and went home on 71. For some reason, going south on 71 seems like it is uphill all the way. Your bus is straining & chuggin' and cars are flying past you. I made a trip down 71 recently in my Ford Ranger driving 70mph and folks were STILL passing me! Ya can'...

Re: Triple R

Pop Corn Sutton supposedly tore his still down before he passed away. But it would be nice to find some pieces parts of it!
