It’s stock height again
Were you selling it? If I had known, I would have bought it. :D All the singles I saw were overpriced rust buckets. I settled for a non-rust overpriced panel.

It's in storage right now. Not really trying to sell it, but I would let it go.

I think we need to take a poll for what logo ends up on your bus. My vote is for Reddy Kilowatt.

That's really pretty cool. I was also thinking of some old airline logos.

I like Reddy Kilowatt too, but I think it would be wise to go with a logo used by a company that's no longer in business. Maybe us schlocks would use Reddy but I think Sean wouldn't. No sense causing issues you don't need to. ;)

My bad -- I know that Daimler dropped the Telefunken name when it acquired the company, but I didn't realize that another company was recently granted the rights to use the Telefunken name. :!:

Go talk to Pat Conway and figure out a way to use the GLBC logo.

Pat Conway went to St. Eds. He and his brother (Dan) were a couple years behind me. They probably have enough advertising as is. And GLBC wasn't around in '59.

Bruce makes a good point about copyright laws. Ohio Edison (in Brandon's post) is a subsidiary of First Energy. Thus, Ohio Edison still exists, even if they don't feature that name. According to this site http://www.reddykilowatt.org/about/ about 200 utility compaines used the RK image back in the day. Has it now entered the public domain and lost its protection? Who knows? I'm sure its probaby copyrighted by someone (what isn't?) somewhere.

(Edit: I should have been more specific. In this instance, the RK logo is really a Trademark).

I am kind of surprised if that site is selling RK stuff though. That's usually a no-no for anyone holding a copyright. I've seen a lot of protected stuff used by others, but once you try to make money off something, that's a different story. You could probably paint Scooby Doo (I'm sure that image is protected) on the side of a bus and get away with it, but if you were using it to make money, and they found out about it, I'd guess you'd receive a letter.

This reminds me of a boatdock/marina down near Edgewater. A few years ago I saw a fuel pump there with a SOHIO sign above it in red white and blue. Its BP, but they probably have that SOHIO logo copyrighted and still use it on occasion to keep it out of the public domain.

Here's a nice little summary about images and the public domain. https://fairuse.stanford.edu/overview/p ... n/welcome/

When I see stuff like this https://www.spreadshirt.com/reddy+kilow ... 01?view=D1 it makes me think they've let it go.

I wouldn't rule out going with RK, but I'd like to explore a lot more options over the winter. While walking back from a meeting I went into the downtown main library yesterday. They have all the old city directories going back like 100 years on the 6th floor. I only had a few minutes, but I pulled out one from 1959 and saw some interesting names and images. At one time my Dad worked for an offshoot of that Slobody plumbing.

Collinwood may still be in business and Pickands Mather is probably part of Cleveland Cliffs.
