With the huge drop in oil temps I saw after installing a deep sump in Bus 1, obviously Bus 2 had to get it too.

This is the exact same Empi sump I put on Bus 1 which fit without modification, but not in Bus 2. Some grinding had to be done to clear the case properly.

I ran it on the high step of the cam for an hour to see big differences between the bottom of the case and the bottom of the sump, like 70-80°F. Even though this bus has no temp gauge I'm sure it will be much happier on the highway with a bigger sump.

I've been switching all of my ACVW to Mobil 1 0W-40, it has plenty of phosphorous and zinc in it to keep the lifters happy. And it says "for Volkswagens" right on the front so it must be the right stuff!

If you ask 100 guys what to seal a case or sump with you'll get a hundred answers, probably all good. I've been using Curil T with good luck on my last few engines. The best part- neither sump leaks on either bus!

Yes, better here and now than on KI next week. Pretty much the same drill replacing it. I noticed the clutch cable Bowden tube didn't seat right away in the picture- this explains the big "bang" the first time I pushed on the clutch. I thought something was going wrong in the bellhousing....

I adjusted the valves, too. ;)
