1957 Oval
Re: 1957 Oval
Ain't that the truth! I really appreciate you grabbing that motor and offering it to me Randy. I'm knee deep in projects and having a nice stock rebuilt 36HP ready to go for this thing is going to make all the difference in the world in terms of time. I'm tripping over old 36 HP motors in the garage, but yours is awesome and ready to go.Randy wrote:Looks good. Just drive it, the wind will blow it out.
So what I'm really saying is "Get back out there and find some more cool VW crap"!

There was a nice orange Rampside around here a few years ago. Havn't seen it for a while but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Sean hurry up and finish this before summer so you can not drive it shows like you do your camper
Re: 1957 Oval
Yea, I'll probably drive it around the block once, then park it and move on to the next project.vw7266 wrote:Sean hurry up and finish this before summer so you can not drive it shows like you do your camper
The only reason I don't drive that '59 more outside Cleveland is because of the small nut split case RGB trans. No fun going 52 mph and having everyone on your &%# talking or texting on cellphones! Once to KI a year is enough. Don't want to "hack" it, so don't be surprised if you see it in the samba classifieds in the coming months.
This bug may give me a chance to take a ride down to South Point. Of course that's the only way I'll ever see you since you're not exactly a travel queen either!
What bus are you driving to OCTO?

I'm going to be a while on this thing. It seems like I'm way too busy to be messing with "projects". I've still got Lurch's bus and now Dale wants to swap the front beam on that.Don from Canton wrote:No, Sean, SLOW DOWN on this project so I can actually see it IN PROGRESS in your garage this Spring instead of all done!!
Even in nice shape, and this bug is in nice shape, everything is a pain. All the nuts, bolts and screws are trashed. Got the rear lights straightened out this morning. These old style lights with the wire clip were a pain. Getting the chrome bevel in the right spot to fit the glass was another pain. I did find that the new ACE Hardware in Rocky River has a really complete inventory of metric bolts nuts and screws. Even 5mm stuff. So that's been a blessing. Anyway here they are.
I'm going to need dates with Lurch & Kyle before I get it to Bill's for the interior.
