I picked up the transmission with big nuts from Bruce the other night. Everything is looking good.
Now it's time for reassembly. Looks like the weather will be on my side this week so I can get started.

Good luck! Show us some pics. I admire your determination. I'm not motivated 'till its consistently 55 outside!
Re: 1960 SO-23 A.K.A. Gunther
It's been a long winter but I am happy to say that Gunther is back on his own 4 feet again!
The rear end work is complete. All of the cleaning, prep and paint, big nut conversion, rebuilt RGBs, brakes, brake lines, gas tank and 12v electrical conversion is done. I have a few odds and ends to take care of, but most importantly, he is finally ready for the new engine installation. I am very excited.
Here are a few pictures to share.

Wow, that looks excellent! You did a sh*tload of work, I can see that, and it all looks great. Is the motor there or still at Bill's? Pics? It's really nice to have the whole rear area cleaned and painted, it makes you feel so much better about working on it. Did you pull the tank and clean/replace it, too? What did you do about the park cables?
Keep up the good work!

Congrats. Looks good. Nice job. Cannot wait to see it in person.
Re: 1960 SO-23 A.K.A. Gunther
Thanks! We all know I didn't do this alone, I had a lot of help from others and appreciate all of it. Everyone who gave input, labor and parts. I learned a lot by going through the process and expect I will learn more as it progresses.
To answer questions:
That is the same gas tank, just cleaned up, flushed out and painted, new filter screen and gaskets for the tap.
For the e-brakes we modified the existing cables. Being that it is a 60 bus, the cables at the front connect below the floor so it was a matter of adding a coupler, threaded shaft and nuts to extend the cables. Then inside the drum we put new longer springs to accommodate the larger diameter drum.
Yes Bruce, it is so much nicer working under a cleaned up bottom. Once I get the bus back from Bill's, rolling the new 1679 engine, I plan on doing the same to the front end, brakes, shocks, clean and paint. The middle portion, between the wheels will be done throughout the summer. I will keep the pictures and updates coming, but probably best to see him at the events planned for this summer.
Thanks again everyone.
