I finished getting the wheel wells painted and decided to do under the front nose as well. The underside of the nose was very solid. Some surface rust was about all I saw. I used the same process and just finished putting the final coat on this AM.

Now that I am done with that and the bus is still up in the air, I am going to check out my front brakes. This is another project I intended to do a few years ago and just never got around to it. I have the parts to replace the shoes but I am not going to that extent yet. I am just going to see what is going on inside for now. I am debating on going to a disc brake set up depending on what I find.

Here are some photos of the underside to share. Click on the photo to see them right side up

Really nice job! I can't believe you're back in Cleveland and we can't all get together. :(

As for disc brakes, I say go for it. You'll be real happy with them. Kirk installed mine. I bought the Wolfsberg West CNC kit. Expensive, but I'm really happy with it.

Bruce bought another kit that was less expensive, but he knows way more about what will work and what won't. I think he's real happy with his as well.

The disc brakes aren't power assist like modern brakes, but they really do improve your stopping power and give you a much better margin of error. The only advice I would give you is to check the offset on whatever kit you get (if you go disc) and look for zero offset so everything will appear stock.

Maybe we can put together a 6 foot away cruise before you go back! Both people and vehicles. We'll call it "The 2020 masked/gloved 6' cruise!"

Craig needs to print the T-Shirt! :D

Thanks guys. I am happy with the results.

I am not sure how long I will be in Ohio this round, but I will definitely be back here for the Spring cruise.

While I was still home in Ohio, I took the bus for a few rides. After one ride in particular, I noticed my drivers side front rim was pretty hot. Really HOT. So I did some investigating. The front wheel was not spinning freely when I lifted it up on jacks. So I adjusted the brakes and backed off the shoe a bit. The next weekend I took it for another ride and had the same results. After a few attempts at adjusting the brakes and even having Ricky come over to help replace the soft brake line, it was still locking up after driving it and applying the brakes. The bus didn't make it to the camp out at Shawn's cabin. Being that I was considering a front disc brake conversion anyways, I figured I wouldn't waste any more time on the drums and shoes. I had it towed out to Kirk's place for a disc brake conversion. Bill ordered the CSP parts for me and handed them to Kirk at Erie Kai. Thanks to both for helping out.

Here are some photos, Kirk is already digging in to it.

Kirk also put that CSP disc kit on my '59. I'm very happy with that kit. There are less expensive kits available (Bruce found a kit at 1/2 the price for his two splits) that arguably does as good a job, but without the knowledge of what to really look for in a decent kit, I just took the hit to the wallet and went for what a lot of folks think is a really good kit. Like I said, I'm really happy with the CSP disc brakes, expecially when millineals don't use turn signals and suddenly have to brake because they're on their phones.
