Octoberfest 2019 Aug. 30- Sept.2
Re: Octoberfest 2019 Aug. 30- Sept.2
Hi. We are trying to make the Octoberfest camp out. Have read the rules of conduct. Just wondering how we know that we’re registered members of LEAKOIL? We have been to a few of the Vermillion events on Thursdays, and I can post to this forum. Just wondering how I know that we’re on the list. We would love to join everyone for the festivities!! Thank you in advance!

Excellent! Just wanted to make sure that we were above board!! We will probably camp Sunday night -Monday as I am working both days at Fat Head’s brewery (right around the corner)! My family will be picking me up at 4:00 on Sunday as we hope to make the parade! -Sybil

Well, three days down and one to go. Oktoberfest has been really outstanding this year. Crowds just keep getting bigger and bigger. The interest in our buses only seems to grow. Plenty of vistors on Friday and Sautrday to check them out.
There's a rumor going around that this event is so successful they are contemplating extending it to a second weekend. We'll have to check with Rich on that!
The rock and roll accordian guy was set up in the big tent near our campground. That guy did like three shows every day. He really works the crowd and does some amazing renditions of some classic rock songs. Hope they keep him there because he is entertaining and we can hear him clear as a bell from our sites.
Rich Croft and the Oktobrfest Board were extremely gracias hosts again as always. Many thanks to Rich for all he does for us. Its amazing when you think they get $13 a person for admission and $7 for a craft beer and $6 for a German beer and about $15 for a dinner from a vendor. And despite that, we LEAKOILERS can come in for free, camp for free, park in a great spot inside for free and bring in our own beer/drinks and food! They even provide us an ample supply of firewood for FREE!
If you're in LEAKOIL and you haven't experienced Oktoberfest, you have no excuse not to come up and enjoy the festival. Again, many thanks to Rich and the Oktoberfest Board.
I didn't really take a lot of pics on Friday and Saturday. The weather those days was outstanding. Sunday afternoon we had a steady annoying drizzle, but it didn't deter a lot of LEAKOILERS from coming out and taking part in the caravan to the Education Buidling where we displayed our vehicles to the crowd. We were really well received. New Mom Rachel made an appearance with the new baby and about to be a new mom Lauren (Wife of an Oktoberfest VIP) made it out Friday and Sunday. What a trooper!
Here are some pics (mostly from the rainy Sunday) in no particular order.

Just a few more...
Re: Octoberfest 2019 Aug. 30- Sept.2
Well, I made it 4 for 4. That means I made it all four days, but on my best behavior. Dawn wanted a late German lunch and I obliged. Good crowd Monday afternoon. I know the Frank’s Bratwurst owner, so Dawn got some great food from there and was a happy non-camper. Me too.
We saw Chuck’s buddy Jeff. We got there at the same time. No Chuck sightings on Monday early.
The Berea Ghia folks were still there. They are the 4 day champs every year. They don’t own a bus, but hold down that Southern point. Great folks that kept the fire burning.
I got a chance to talk to Rich. All is good. Looks like we’ll be back for year 14. Dawn and I hung out for the Chardonnay Polka Band. Great show!
