Once again, a huge shout out to both Bill Webner and his wife Pam for everything they do to make this annual event happen. They've been at it for more than 25 years and I think this year was some kind of record. Bill is our founder, and runs LEAKOIL along with Marla C., and they make it the success it is today. They make sure we have an operational website, approve new members, clean up problems with the website, make sure programing upgrades are made, authorize participation in annual events like "Tune up Day," "The MetroParks Cruise," "The Mohican Campout," "Basil's Third Thursday's," Vermillion Third Thursdays," "Vermilion Beach Market," "Oberlin concert Series," "Tour of Local Fare," "Oktoberfest" as well as assorted cruises and other events throughout the year, and of course, KI.
A lot goes into making this event happen. It shouldn't go unoticed. A contact is signed with the 4-H club. We get an insurance policy for the event. A lot of donations are secured for the auction and they have to be transported to the island. LEAKOIL gets a keg of Great Lakes for the members to enjoy. The hot dog machine is brought up and free hot dogs are provided throughout the weekend. The Cunningham's (Dave and Denise) get tye dye shirts for the kids and supervise the bus painting. Registration is staffed, the store is staffed and volunteers chip in to help with the cleanup and all the raffles.
We appreciate everyone who buys a shirt, a trinket or a raffle ticket. Its the way we fund this club. We don't get the money you pay for registration. By contract that goes directly to 4-H. The website is FREE and it only exists when the club is supported. So THANK YOU!
Many thanks to all who came from parts close and far away to participate in the event. It only really happens because you make the commitment to come!
We certainly hope you found the event enjoyable.
My panel started out as a delivery bus and 60 years later it was pressed back into service.
