Reminder KoK Pre-Registration is due Sept 28th. Don't forget to send in your registration forms and fees to get your discounted rate. We encourage you to take advantage of this discount to help with planning. Registration fees do not go directly to LEAKOIL, so please make your checks out to the 4H Campground (see your registration form).

Thank you everyone in advance.

Just a couple of notes. We will again have our silent auction. Our sponsors have donated some very nice items, but, we need you also. Dig through you treasures  . As most of you are aware, LEAKOIL does not receive any of the moneys for the camp out. Your payments go 100% to Erie county 4 H. The sale of t-shirts and other items and the silent auction are what support the cost of this web site, and the goodies that we provide including the free hot dogs and beverage all week end. Items do not need to be bus or VW related.

Just a few more notes, especially for those attending for the first time.

The Kelleys Island Ferry dock is located at the tip of the Marblehead peninsula, exits 125 A & B off of U.S. RT.2. Just follow the signs. When exiting the ferry dock on the Island, continue strait to Division ST. and turn Rt. continue on division St. to Ward RD. turn Rt. the 4H camp will be on the left about 1/2 mile.
http://www.kelleysislandferry.com/schedule.htm

Check in will be at the garage at the entrance to the camp. Try not to arrive before noon on Friday. If you arrive late on Friday and there is no one at check in, just go set up and see us in the morning for your pass and goody bag. If arriving after noon on Saturday the rate is 1/2 of the stated cost.

There are no assigned sites. Just pick a spot and set up. there is very limited electric available.
At the top of the camping area at the basketball court, nearest to the restrooms and dinning hall, about half way down the field at the reviewing stand and at the pavilion at the right side of the beach. Electric heaters are prohibited as the circuits can not handle more than a couple and the breakers are not easily accessible. If you think you may need heat, we suggest a propane heater buddy.

4H does not allow ground fires and there are no fire rings. You may bring a raised fire pit. There is also a large fire ring at the beach.

Dogs are permitted. PLEASE be a responsible pet owner. Pick up after them. 4H requests that you keep you dog leashed, however there are ares on both sides of the 4H beach where you can let your dog run free.

The speed limit on the Island is 25 MPH. a speeding ticket on the Island will cost you more than your ferry and camping combined.
Speed limit on the 4H grounds is 5MPH. Please be aware of children playing all over the camping area. 4H asks that you use the road along the field and try to avoid driving on the field other than to get to your camping spot. The Reckless operation of any vehicles including golf carts, mopeds or others will not be tolerated.

Golf carts a a great way to get around the camp and the Island. We have arranged a small discount from KI General store. Located on the right as you turn on to Division st.

There is an ice machine in the dinning hall for our use. Also a walk in cooler. 4H will provide breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning in the dinning hall. 4 H will also provide fire wood, however, we won't know about the supply until we arrive. If you are bringing a raised fire pit,you may want to bring a bit of wood.

4H will provide breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Our pot luck dinner will be On Saturday evening. We have found crock pots work well for this. Please pick up your crock pot or other container at the end of the dinner. We can run them thru the dish washer if you wish. If you bring a desert, please retrieve the left over after dinner, we hate to throw it out. We are required to clean up the dinning hall at after the dinner. Volunteers are appreciated.

We will again provide free hot dogs and a beverage all week end in the dinning hall.

The silent auction tables will be located in the dinning hall. If you are bringing an item to donate, you can drop it off there and fill out an auction sheet

The silent auction, and the 50/50 raffle will end and winners announced after breakfast on Sunday.

We are now 10 days away :D

The early registration discount period has ended. We have a record number of you who have taken advantage of this. It really aids in planning for this event and for 4H to plan the breakfasts on Sat. and Sunday. If you are wondering why your check has not cleared, they are handed to 4H at the event and they will deposit the week following.

If you did not pre register, fear not, you can still register when you arrive.
There are several "camp cabins" available on a first come basis for those who may need or wish. Ask at registration.

All vehicles must register for entrance. One registration form per vehicle is required. Only VW campers and buses will be allowed to camp on the lower field area. All other vehicles will remain in the guest parking area. Camping gear can be dropped off for set up, but any non VW vehicle will not be permitted to stay on the field.
PRICING:
Pricing is set by the 4-H Board. LEAKOIL does not receive or retain any camping funds. Pricing is based on individuals arriving
in a VW bus. The amounts reflect the full weekend, include breakfast served on Saturday and Sunday, bathrooms w/showers,
ice, firewood
1 person in one bus = $73.00
2 persons in one bus = $88.00
3 or more persons from the same family in one bus = $93.00
Those arriving after 12 pm on Saturday are charged 50% of the above amounts. Anyone showing up “solo” or
in a “group” without a bus is considered a “walk up” by the 4-H Director and is charged $60 per person.
LEAKOIL signs a contract for these rates and we are obligated to to pay the agreed rates.

Remember, when you get to the ferry booth you must tell them that you are with the VW Bus group in order to get you ferry discount.

If you arrive before noon on Friday, take some time and drive around the island. If you arrive before Friday, the State park is at the end of Division ST. and has some very nice lake front sites.

See you all on the island.

A few more notes. especially for first timers.
Cell phones:
Depending on your provider, you may not have service on the 4H grounds. We have found that you may have service by the road at the entrance to the camp. Again, depending on your provider, you may see international roaming charges (Canada) on the 4H grounds or the North side of the island (AT&T customer should be fine) Reception in town is fine and will be a U.S. connection. There is internet, wifi connectivity in the dinning hall, password will be posted there.

4H does not permit ground fires on the grassy areas. You may bring a raised fire pit.

There is VERY limited electricity. Therefore, PLEASE do not use electric heaters. The circuit breakers are not easily accessible and we will not be able to reset them. Electricity for crock pots is available in the dinning hall. You also may bring a small generator.

If you feel that you may need heat, we suggest using a propane Mr.Heater Buddy. They are tent and bus safe.
