As Dave fixed my rear corner i repaired my windshield wiper switch and my cig lighter. I could not get power to my lighter from its wires so i had to plug into a live wire somewhere. I had a loose hot wire under my dash hooked to nothing. Sooo i hooked my lighter to that. Bad move. I left Daves feeling good about everything being fixed. Driving down 480 and boom, smoke started pouring out from my ignition so i shut it off and made it to the side of the highway. I overloaded something and the black wire going to my ignition melted and my key would not turn at all or come out. AAA it home and found this




So i am now trying to switch out my ignition and fix the wire. I have everything out including the little screw. Ignition is still in, anybody know whats next to get this out?

If you have removed the small screww that goes into the electrical part of the switch you should be able to pull it out from the side where the wires are connected. May be stuck a little.

Looks good guys . Its probably good you are replacing the ignition . Its probably original and would have went eventually . Randy gave me some advice that I think is good . Not only fix your ignition , but also wire a push button start as a back up . If the new ignition switch fails ( and I've heard the replacement ones do sometime ) you will not be dead in the water . Ken suggests to hook up the push button start in the engine bay . So when you are working on your engine you can turn it on and off from the engine bay . Maybe someone can way in on how to hook up the push button rig . A toggle nob turns the coil on and the push button turns the starter .
