Sorry for the confusion. But I appreciate the input. We did put rebuilt heads and jtubes on the bus. However the manifold on the one cylinder was getting hot. I think I figured it out tonight and don't know how I missed it the first time around. Somehow the nut on the valve adjuster worked its way ...

We recently replaced the heads. It was running great for a few days we pulled into my driveway half hour later we went back out to leave and it was losing power when going down the road in sputtering. checked the gaskets everything seems to be fine. There seems to be popping in the exhaust manifold. This is a fuel injected engine and I replace the injector which seemed to help a bit but its still doing, and only in the Number 1 exhaust.

J tube on fuel injected type 4
Put j tubes on a type 4. Take off its spits and back fires then smoothed out. Any thoughts on what may be my issue.

Difficult to tell from those pics. Look like round (oval). I will get some pics up tomorrow that may help.
I would start soaking those studs down with PB Blaster or something similar, Seafoam makes a penetrant as does Krol. Keep soaking them. If the studs come out when you remove the manifold
