Awesome work! Get it down to the camp out and have a beer. You deserve it after dealing with that.

Re: 76 Westfalia Sweet Pickle

You have a compression fitting in the hard brake line going to a caliper in a photo above, those are not safe on brake lines and probably not legal. There's a bleeder screw at the bottom of the caliper in the pic, make sure there's another at the top. Either you have a caliper with two bleeders or ...

Re: Woodward Dream Cruise 2020

If it's a bust we can load up my Caravan and drive around to all the old factory sites. My wife and I did that once with a guy we met at the local cars and coffee that was in town from Chicago. We showed him all kinds of places while he talked about architecture, he and his father were architects. T...

I think if you stay north of 14 Mile you should not be hasseled. County Sherrif and State PD might be an issue the whole length of the strip h ticket book in hand for the rice and muscle guys.

I will probably be at the Mi VW group at the northern end and come in off a side road.

I do have a question. Does anyone know what kind of insulation I can use to put back in or does it really matter much?

We use SeaRox from Rockwool at work in our chambers and I will get the other product for you tomorrow at work. It is Kapton faced Melamine foam.

Re: rear transmission shaft

try and find a 7mm stud There are 7 of them on the front of the transaxle. Nosecone studs are M7. You can steal one from and extra trans if you have one... or take it from the front of that trans. Six studs up there "will be fine" You can get 3 feet of M7 threaded rod from McMaster for $12. g...

Interesting...... I wonder if they have it titled in the US? (And is that oil splashed back onto the muffler?)
It's a clean Bus. Even if it is a leaker you could rebuild that motor for less than a set of Type IV heads.

Re: rear transmission shaft

that snapring came out with the shaft, I believe that started the problem. the stud looks to be on the other shaft still.i am going to remove the t/o bearind and seal and try to get it back together without a teardown. You can't because the reverse gear is now in the diff housing. The reverse gear ...
