finally got some metal in, so hopefully I can get the rear section done before the snow sets in...
I plan on getting all the metal I need for the cab area over the winter, so when spring comes I can hit it hard.
anyway, todays progress
I started with the left rear corner

as you can see it was pretty chewed, remarkably the tray was in decent enough shape that I just left it...

couldn't say the same for the bottom of the wheel well though, so I cut the cancer out

and made a new piece and welded that in

With that back in, it was time to tack up the panel. Obi Wan Kirk Nobi gave me some sagely advice about installing the Gerson corners. He said "if there is one thing I cannot stress enough its....." I forget what he said, so I decided to wing it

for those astute viewers, you will notice I didn't spot weld the battery tray. I said "screw it"

the panel fit really well with the exception of being about 1/8" or so short

I will get the long reach chisel out tomorrow and see if I can massage that a little tighter from inside the engine bay.
since I like to commune with nature in my shop (its outside on my driveway), I am kinda bound by nature. It was windy today, so I had to use flux core to set the tacks, and could only work till the sun went down.
My plan is to hook up the gas tomorrow, and finish welding and grinding the panel down. I will try to weld as much as I can from inside the bay, to try and avoid the wind.
