Thanks Sean. Very functional. Best upright motor I have ever had, well, excepting the engine in the 86 Brazilian DC I had a few years back.

Too bad the PO converted it from 6 volts to 12 volts. I have a theory that the weight of those 6 extra volts can slow you down. Six Volt might agree :D

You got it Ken! To keep the universe in order, I'm thinking about picking up a '73 bay window and converting it to 6 volts. Now if I can only figure out how to mount a 6 volt generator in the alternator spot of a Type IV pancake motor. Hmmm :?

I think Josh is finishing the rebuild on his 1500 for his '58 and he's keeping the 6 volt set up. He was over yesterday and he told me about a good deal on a Bosch 6 volt generator. I'm sure you guys are all dying for the details!

Hey Randy, I'd run that 12 volt set up with the 1500 any day! 8-) Just cause I'm crazy to want to write a letter with a feather and an ink well doesn't mean you can't use a ball point pen! That looks like a sweet motor and I'm sure it runs great. Years ago I had a '69 beetle with a 1500 single port. Great running engine. Can't wait to see your bus in person! Come to think of it, I don't know that I've ever actually seen a 'double door' in person. The internet has a way of spoiling us all!

Since were talking engines, did that bus come with a 40 horse originally? Was it fresh air heat by then or still stale air? I'm sure Ken or Ted will know the answer. You've got to love the way you can bolt up an improved motor like the 1500 to one of these early buses. Great stuff!

I am sure nobody is dying for details, but I got a 6v rebuilt generator (original German Bosch) from SoCal auto parts for $49! Looks like new They charged me a $25 core, but it may cost that just to ship the old one back.

See if one of those US Post Office cardboard boxes they sell, "One size ships all for one flat rate" will fit your unit? Might save ya a few bucks.

The way Randy finds buses, he will have gone through 6 more new bus purchases by Kelleys Weekend. I sure would like to see the doubledoor in person though before he trades it.
